ABOUT

Alyssa grew up in Central Queensland, Australia, then moved to Brisbane to study Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Queensland. During her days as a student, and also upon graduation, she moon-lighted in restaurants as a professional pianist.

Her first speech pathology job took her to the Hunter Valley, New South Wales. Then, the lure of travelling the world called, and she left her profession for 18 months to become an international flight attendant for Qantas Airways. The excitement of travelling to exotic locations on different continents was fabulous … until she met her soul mate. Given that most of the time Alyssa was on one side of the world and her husband, an international pilot, was on the other, romance became a priority over travelling and it was time to go back to her love of speech pathology.

Now, still very happily married and three wonderful children later, Alyssa has obtained a Masters Degree in Science and worked in her own speech pathology private practice, particularly helping children with developmental and learning disorders.

An avid reader of romance since her late teens, she began writing romances in the evenings during her maternity leave when her twins were born. Discovering Romance Writers of Australia and the Australian Romance Readers’ Association, she has found her ‘tribe’ and her first story was published by Escape Publishing (Harlequin Enterprises Australia) in 2013.

Now, her three children have all finished university and left home, and she has retired from her speech pathology practice and this frees up her time for more writing, reading, entertaining, playing tennis and gardening. She and her husband share their five acre property south of Sydney with two dogs, a pony, five goats, numerous chickens and visits from deer, wallabies, echidnas, wombats and beautiful native birds. She’s not so enamoured of the venomous wildlife with fangs!
